THE STUDIO
Tympan Pictures is an independent studio telling Vietnamese stories for audiences everywhere. We make films with generative tools, and every frame answers to human creative direction.
Our name comes from the tympanum — the struck face of the Đông Sơn bronze drum, cast more than two thousand years ago with a sun at its centre and rays wheeling around it. It is the first thing you see on every title card we make.
We work from the chronicles and keep their disagreements on screen: what the record states, what later historians suspected, what the villages remember.
Costume, architecture and landscape are researched for Đại Việt — never borrowed from a neighbour’s screen tradition.
We say how our pictures are made, on every end card. The tools render; people decide.
